The average rate on the 30-year fixed mortgage fell this week below 4 percent for only the second time in history, Freddie Mac said Thursday. Five weeks ago, the average rate dropped to a record low of 3.94 percent. Here's a look at rates for fixed and adjustable mortgages over the past 52 weeks.
