Ricardo Arjona On Tour To Keep Immigrant Families Together

Guatemalan singer and songwriter Ricardo Arjona is offering support to a group of Hispanic immigrants who have embarked on a tour through the United States to draw attention to families separated by immigration laws.

According to the Associated Press, with an event held in Phoenix on Thursday, Arjona kicked off the ?Tour to Keep Families Together.? The initiative that will be running through the week aims to help create awareness about the issues that affect immigrants without legal residence in the United States.

As part of the concert, the artist also paid tribute to his mother who was "the first undocumented person he met in his life," after she moved from Guatemala to the city of New York in search of paying a "demonic debt,? the Associated Press reports.

Led by the Promise Arizona organization, the events will take place in Arizona, California, Nevada, New York and Florida, among other cities, and are focused on making a call for support.

The movement, planned by families separated by deportations, and immigrant activists, also seek to make a national mobilization that includes bus tours to 19 states and 90 cities to tell their stories and demand immigration reform, the Spanish news agency EFE reported.
