The Great Bear Recreation Park in Sioux Falls is considering expansion options that would allow the city-owned park to cater to a wider variety of people.
Authorities say the park has outgrown the $3 million expansion that was completed in 2000. The group that manages the park will seek public input on expansion plans at a meeting Wednesday.
Options include expanding the area for beginning skiers, expanding the tubing hill, building a temperature-controlled ice rink and increasing the size of the lodge.
?
The last expansion made the park a year-round recreation site, with more downhill skiing runs, cross country skiing, hiking trails, a tubing hill, a snowboarding site and a bigger lodge.
?
The recreation area served more than 38,000 visitors last winter.
