Golf swing performance comes from your body not a club.
This is a message I provide to adults and high school golfers and some Junior golfers is your body still has to swing the club, and people focus less on the golf swing, and the body, hoping a new magic driver will do all the work for them and hit it longer and straighter is one reason average handicaps and scores have not lowered over time.
Plenty of golf players fall for the same marketing tricks.
Not just in in golf but everything
For example;
Do you really need the latest I-Phone if you have the previous model.
I can still smash my 4 year old Ping Driver past everyone I play with, professional or not. The ball flies straight, I can shape the ball, I trust the driver. Yes I have tried a couple of the new adjustable drivers, but I do just not like the feel.
Maybe If I spent lots of time testing, playing with the clubhead and shaft I would find a good fit, that I hit further and straighter and more consistently.
My point is this, just because A PGA tour pro used the latest club to win, does not mean we need to go out and buy and play with the latest equipment.
Don't fall for it.
I am not saying that technology has not advanced, but if scores on the golf courses have not really altered over the past 20 years then the equipment cannot be improving golf swings that much. Average distances have ever so slightly increased, but this is also due to better technology for swing analysis but more importantly physiques and golf fitness being more apparent on all the professional tours not just the PGA.
The PGA player practices, the golf swing is tuned, the golf fitness and conditioning are paramount.
Junior golf players and wannabe college players should worry less about how they are going to get the latest bit of golf equipment that they think will boost their drives, improve their golf swing and lower their scores.
A question I pose to you is; did your last equipment purchase really transform your golf game that much?
I am sure it helped somewhat and you liked it and felt good with certain golf swings and shots, but did the latest wedge, driver or set of irons slash shots of each and every round?
Efforts should be on golf fitness conditioning to improve your body over bugging your parents for more money to buy the latest driver, hybrid or whatever you see the PGA tour players using if you really want to improve your golf swing and junior golf swing performance.
