Disney makes the best board games. They incorporate something everybody loves into a family activity.? Friday night is game night in my house.? We have played countless board games with a Disney theme.? They range from Disney adaptations of traditional games like Monopoly, Yahtzee, Scene It, Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary and many others.? However, there are also games that are unique to Disney that you should consider playing with your family -if you haven?t already.

1. Magic Kingdom Game
Gamer scale: 5 out of 5
This game is definitely my favorite board game. Your objective is to visit every ride on the cards you are given and get out of the park first. Usually you get one ride from each land, but under certain circumstances, you may get stuck with 3 from the same land! Just like when visiting the park, your well thought out plan may change if someone has to visit the First Aid Station or you decide to watch the parade.? Try to get Mickey or Donald?s autograph and your day may go a whole lot smoother!!? Although it is called the magic Kingdom, you?ll find some names from its sister park.? For example, the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse is called Tarzan?s Treehouse.? This game will take you back to the park for about an hour.

2. The Disneyland Monorail Game
Gamer scale: 2 out of 5
If your parents still have theirs or you check out ebay, you may be able to get your hands on an original Disney board game from the 1960?s. The Disneyland Monorail Game is one of these treasures.? ?The monorail track is a figure 8 which takes you around the park.? The Casey Jr. train track circles the outside of park. No cards, no spinner. Just 5 game pieces (4 players and 1 piece for Casey) and 2 die. You roll a die for the player and Casey Jr. on each turn. Your mission is to get to the end of the monorail track before Casey Jr. gets to the end of his track. This game is very repetitive and kinda boring, but you can play by yourself.? Even though it?s not full of excitement, this game is good to have for its nostalgic value.?? Games have definitely come a long way in the last 50 years! J? You?ll only need about 20 spare minutes to play this game.

3. Disney Hedbandz
Gamer scale: 4 out of 5
This game tests your memory and Disney knowledge all at once! Everybody playing gets a headband (they are made to look like Mickey Ears) and puts a card in the slot built into the headband without looking at it. You ask yes or no questions to gain clues about whom or what is on your head. If you are right, you get a Mickey chip. If you are wrong, you wait for your next turn to continue the question-and-answer session. You only have 3 turns to guess what card is on your head before it is replaced by a new one. ?This game can be frustrating at times because it seems like you always forget what you already asked or what answers you were given when you turn rolls around again.? On top of that, you are always left with the ?Duh!? feeling when you finally look at the card after guessing incorrectly? but it is always a fun game to play. This game can last for as long as you want to play.? You?ll be surprised how much time goes by without you even realizing it!

?

These are just a few games unique to Disney that are perfect for our age group.? If you happen to have a younger sibling to buy for, little girls would love Pretty, Pretty Princess.? How can you go wrong with a future princess earning jewels while playing a game?? Younger boys would get a kick out of Phineas and Ferb 104 Days of Summer Vacation.? During the course of this game they are challenged to perform tasks.? Some are funny, some are mental, some are physical, all are fun!? Tune in next week for Disney video games.

If Family Game Night isn?t a weekly activity at your house, schedule one to try it out.? Invite your friends over.? Believe me when I say that my friends love game night at my house.? You may be surprised at who the most competitive person in your family is!

I want to give a quick shout out to YeeHa Bob, who gave us box people quite a show on Wednesday night. He was very unique and interactive with Lou and the box-probably the most interactive person in the history of the NewsCast. You could tell that he loves his job!

Quote of the Week: ?This is the Ocean, silly, we?re not the only two in here.? ~Dory, Finding Nemo

What is your favorite board game and why do you enjoy playing it so much?? Please post your thoughts in the blog comments!
