WASHINGTON, Jan. 11 ? U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner on Friday invited President Barack Obama to give State of the Union address on Feb. 12.
Boehner has sent the formal invitation in a letter to the White House. He said as the country faces immense challenges, the American people expect the Congress and White House to work together to find solutions, and Obama can present his plan on such solutions to a joint session of Congress in the House chamber.
U.S. presidents typically present their State of the Union address at the start of the year to the Congress. The address usually summarizes the past year, and sets the tone for the new year?s work.
